Day-5 of the England vs Australia’s fourth test of the Ashes 2023 was expected to bring some action but uninterrupted rain kept the whole match stand still with Australia at 214/5 on the scoreboard. The fifth day was impacted by the incessant rain throughout the whole time. Several inspections were held by on-field umpires and at times it appeared as if the covers would be coming off which never happened. Although, it was clear from the weather forecast predictions that rains will affect the last two days of the match, but still some game was expected to happen as on day-4.
On one side, the Aussies cherished for retaining the urn as rain saved their day while on the other side, it was a moment of dismay for England as they were much closer to winning the game. England had a great chance of leveling up the series to 2-2, had rain not interrupted the match.
